Minister of Transport Emphasizes 2025-2030 Strategy as Catalyst for Economic Growth and Investment Attraction

Doha: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani emphasized that the Ministry of Transport's strategy for 2025-2030 is a key component of the Qatar National Vision 2030, aligning with the Ministry's efforts to achieve the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030). The strategy focuses on developing a world-class infrastructure, enhancing Qatar's global standing in logistics, digital transformation, and smart transportation innovation.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the strategy's launch ceremony under the slogan "Reaching Beyond Horizons," His Excellency highlighted the strategy's goal to advance the transportation and logistics sector, making it pivotal for economic growth and investment attraction. The strategy aims to enhance Qatar's competitiveness regionally and globally by establishing an integrated, safe, flexible, and sustainable transportation system.

The Minister noted the strategy encompasses 125 projects derived from 42 initiatives, with investments exceeding QR 1.2 billion. The private sector contributes 40 percent, reflecting a partnership driving national development and economic diversification. These projects aim to strengthen Qatar's position as a transportation and logistics hub through strategic connectivity with regional and international markets.

The strategy, through 17 specialized initiatives, seeks to enhance public transport efficiency by offering reliable, comfortable, and eco-friendly services accessible to all societal segments, including the elderly and people of determination. The Ministry boasts a leading regional position in electric transportation, with electric buses forming 73 percent of the public transit network, aiming for 100 percent by 2030, integrating with electric metro and tram systems.

In innovation and technology, the strategy prioritizes national competencies for leading future smart transportation, with training programs and development initiatives. Plans include establishing smart control centers and advanced digital applications to meet societal needs.

Concluding, His Excellency emphasized the strategy as a transformative journey for Qatar, in collaboration with public and private partners, to model smart, integrated, and sustainable transportation globally. The 2025-2030 strategy serves as a roadmap for transportation sector development, supporting economic growth, sustainability, and innovation.

It focuses on economic growth, service enhancement, customer-centric transportation, network sustainability, and workforce development to achieve ministry objectives and support economic and sustainable development.
