Doha: The Ministry of Culture has launched the first International Arabic Calligraphy Competition in partnership with ICESCO, with a submission deadline set for August 15, 2025. The closing ceremony, where winners will be announced, is scheduled for September 8.
According to Qatar News Agency, the competition aims to motivate artists to revive Arabic calligraphy by adhering to its conventional rules, with ethics as the core theme. Arabic calligraphy is regarded as a significant art form that has shaped Arab and Islamic civilization.
The Ministry of Culture is committed to preserving the classic nature of this calligraphy as an enduring heritage. This initiative seeks to connect generational creative knowledge and advance creative fields and ethics in culture and art, inspiring international calligraphers.
The ministry has also called on participants from both within and outside Qatar to comply with traditional rules by selecting one of the approved sentences and completing the registration form on the competition's website. It emphasized that submissions will not be evaluated without the subscription form.
