Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) is actively participating in the second edition of the Kids Expo, which commenced Tuesday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The event is themed “Our Children are a Trust” and focuses on raising awareness among children and promoting their rights.
According to Qatar News Agency, the expo’s opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Director General of Civil Defense Major General Hamad Othman Al Duhaimi and other ministry officials. The event, spanning five days, serves as a platform for individuals and organizations dedicated to children’s welfare and awareness.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of the Public Relations Department at MOI, emphasized that the ministry’s involvement underscores its commitment to community awareness. He highlighted the importance of educating children about security and safety to guide them toward safe behaviors and shield them from risks. The ministry’s initiatives, executed by the Public Relations Department in collaboration with relevant departments, allocate significant resources to children’s awareness programs each year.
The ministry is hosting a series of field awareness activities targeting children, aiming to foster national identity and loyalty, while educating them on security issues suitable for their age. Major General Al Muftah underscored the collective responsibility of institutions, families, and communities in raising children’s awareness for a secure society.
He noted the risks posed by modern technology, as children increasingly interact online, potentially exposing them to cybercrimes. The ministry, through its various departments, is focused on educating youth about the dangers of cybercrimes, digital extortion, and online bullying.
Major General Al Muftah asserted that early awareness acts as a critical defense against these threats, enabling children to identify risky behaviors and adopt preventative security measures. This education fosters respect for the law and social responsibility, aiming to develop a conscious generation capable of safeguarding themselves and their community from modern threats.
