Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has organised an awareness workshop on the Mechanism for Licensing Healthcare Practitioners Working in Centres for Persons with Disabilities. The event was attended by representatives from the Department of Educational Services Centres at the Private Education Affairs Sector of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), as well as several liaison officers and healthcare practitioners from private centres.
According to Qatar News Agency, this workshop is part of an initiative launched by the Department of Healthcare Professions at MoPH to ensure that healthcare practitioners working in private centres, particularly those serving persons with disabilities, obtain the necessary licences. The Department of Healthcare Professions at MoPH is the authority responsible for regulating the work of healthcare practitioners of all categories in the State of Qatar.
As part of the ongoing cooperation and coordination between MoPH and the MEHE, the initiative has been launched to ensure the safety of students with disabilities and to guarantee that all health services provided to them are of a high standard and delivered by qualified practitioners. A representative of the Registration Section at the Department of Healthcare Professions, MoPH, defined the categories that require licensing, reviewing the requirements and standards for licensing clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, and speech and language therapists, as well as clarifying the role of liaison officers and opening channels of communication between the relevant parties.
A live demonstration of the registration process via the Department of Healthcare Professions' website was also provided, alongside a moving visual presentation highlighting the role of healthcare practitioners in supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
