Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced the continuation of its national seasonal influenza vaccination campaign, which began in the latter half of September. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, and a network of governmental, semi-governmental, and private health facilities.
According to Qatar News Agency, MOPH stated that this campaign is part of an annual strategy aimed at promoting awareness, enhancing prevention, and reducing the spread of influenza during the winter months. This year, influenza vaccines are being provided free of charge at over 103 health facilities, including 31 health centers under the Primary Health Care Corporation, 57 private sector health facilities, and 15 semi-governmental facilities like Qatar Energy and the Qatar Red Crescent.
The ministry emphasized that influenza vaccinations are also available at ministries, government institutions, and private companies. This is part of a comprehensive plan to ensure easy access to vaccination services for all members of society, thereby increasing coverage rates and protecting public health.
MOPH has urged community members, particularly those at higher risk of complications, to get vaccinated at the earliest possible opportunity. They stressed that prevention starts with vaccination and that health awareness serves as the first line of defense. The vaccination priority groups include individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart and lung diseases, kidney impairment, and weakened immunity, along with senior citizens above 60 years, children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women, and healthcare workers.
