MSDF Engages in International Event on Social Economy and Digital Transformation

Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) participated in a high-level international event focused on “Digital Pathways Towards Regulating the Social and Solidarity Economy,” as part of the Second World Summit for Social Development. The event, which took place on Tuesday, saw the attendance of representatives from various Arab and international organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Affairs at MSDF, Fahad bin Mohammed Al Khayarin, highlighted that the integration of family solidarity, social development, and digital transformation is central to Qatar’s vision. He emphasized that the government sector cannot solely address all developmental needs, advocating for a strategic approach through the social and solidarity economy to promote social development and ensure equal opportunities.

Al Khayarin noted Qatar’s focus on empowering vulnerable groups by creating job opportunities for youth, women, and people with disabilities, and supporting productive family projects. This initiative aims to transform these projects into organized economic entities, thereby enhancing family and community cohesion while providing a sustainable social and economic safety net.

The event underscored the role of digital tools in organizing productive families by establishing digital platforms for registration, market access, and efficient financial management. This approach facilitates smart financing and equitable access to financial solutions that support small business growth and cross-border trade opportunities.

Al Khayarin also stressed the importance of building digital capacities among social sector workers, particularly the youth, equipping them with skills to leverage modern technologies and develop innovative projects that bolster the national economy. He highlighted the family as the nurturing environment for the social economy, with many small businesses originating within homes and relying on family solidarity.

He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to enhancing regional and international efforts to promote a social and solidarity economy, integrating social and economic policies to establish the family as a central pillar in building a cohesive society. This commitment aims to achieve social justice and comprehensive development in the region, keeping pace with transformations.
