NHRC and NCIHL Seek to Enhance Collaborative Efforts

Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law (NCIHL) recently convened to explore ways to bolster their collaborative efforts in areas of shared interest. The meeting aimed at developing mechanisms for effective coordination and integration between the two entities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting was hosted by the NHRC at its headquarters in Doha and was attended by a delegation from the NCIHL, led by its Vice-Chairman Faisal Mohammed Al Emadi, along with several officials from both organizations. The discussions focused on the interplay between international humanitarian law and human rights approaches, highlighting the NHRC's efforts in areas such as human rights in armed conflicts and support for vulnerable groups.

Both entities have agreed to formalize their cooperation by signing a joint agreement. This agreement will be informed by a thorough examination of shared priorities and potential annual projects that aim to enhance coordination mechanisms.

Additionally, a joint technical team will be established to draft the cooperation agreement. This team will work towards creating a clear executive agenda to effectively implement activities and events that promote and protect human rights.
