Tokyo:Japan's Nikkei index experienced a rise on Tuesday, driven by overnight gains on Wall Street and a decrease in crude oil prices.
According to Qatar News Agency, Japanese stocks saw further acceleration in the afternoon session. This was attributed to strong demand for the 10-year Japanese government bond, which eased concerns about the debt market.
The Nikkei advanced 1.1% to close the morning session at 70,683.98, while the broader Topix increased by 0.9% to 4,183.56. Among the Nikkei's 225 components, 165 rose, 55 fell, and three remained unchanged.
Overnight, all three major US indexes saw an increase, with the Nasdaq Composite reaching a record high due to a rally in tech heavyweights like Nvidia. In Japan, tech shares had mixed performances; chip-equipment maker Advantest gained 3.9%, and optical fiber cable maker Fujikura rose by 5.2%. On the other hand, SoftBank Group, an AI-focused startup investor, dropped by 3.1%, marking it as the worst performer in the index.
