Muscat: Oman's inflation rate stood at 3.2% in July, compared with the same month last year, while average inflation stood at 2.9% from January through July this year.
According to Qatar News Agency, data released Saturday by Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded the highest increase among the main groups, rising 7.3% year-on-year, followed by transport at 6.5%, miscellaneous personal goods and services at 5.3%, restaurants and hotels at 3.6%, and furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 3.1%.
Education prices rose 2.2%, health prices 1.7%, and culture and recreation prices 0.4%. Prices for communications, tobacco, clothing and footwear remained unchanged from July last year, while prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded a 0.6% decline, the data revealed.
Within the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, the data showed increases in the prices of several subgroups compared with July last year. Vegetable prices rose 19.9%, followed by fruits at 15.8%, meat at 8.7%, fish at 5.7%, and non-alcoholic beverages at 3.3%. Prices of sugar, jam, honey and confectionery also rose 2.4%, followed by milk, cheese and eggs at 2.2%, food products not elsewhere classified at 2.1%, bread and cereals at 1.0%, and oils and fats at 0.5%, compared with the same month in 2025.
