Palestinian President, EU Official Discuss Developments in Occupied Territories

Ramallah, – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed today, during a meeting with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Abbas emphasized the necessity for the European Union to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their continuous aggression against the Palestinian people. He urged for the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and demanded an end to the attacks by the Israeli forces and terrorist settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He reiterated an absolute rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, including Jerusalem. He stressed the urgent need for the release of Palestinian clearance revenues withheld by Israeli authorities. The Palestinian President clarified that security and peace are achieved through ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. He urged the European Union countries to recognize the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations.
