Palestinian President Urges Arab Leaders to Adopt a Comprehensive Peace Plan

Baghdad: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on Arab leaders participating in the 34th Arab League Summit in Baghdad on Saturday to adopt a unified Arab plan to end the war and achieve peace, emphasizing the need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and detainees, the guarantee of humanitarian aid flow, and the full withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza.

According to Qatar News Agency, during his speech at the summit, Abbas urged the convening of an international conference in Cairo to finance and implement a Gaza reconstruction plan. He also advocated for a comprehensive truce and an end to unilateral Israeli measures that violate international law and undermine the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He stressed the necessity of launching a time-bound political process to implement the two-state solution, establish the Palestinian state on its territories, and secure international recognition in line with United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Abbas affirmed his willingness to hold presidential and legislative elections next year, contingent on the availability of appropriate conditions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
