Palestinian President Urges UN to Grant Full Membership to Palestine

New york: In his address at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for an immediate and permanent end to the war on the Palestinian people. Stressing the importance of the historic New York Declaration, adopted overwhelmingly by the General Assembly, Abbas highlighted that measures such as blockade, starvation, and destruction cannot be used to achieve security.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Abbas commended the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in their attempts to end the conflict in Gaza. He also lauded the international community for its stance against forced displacement. Emphasizing the administrative capabilities of the State of Palestine, Abbas asserted that it is the only entity qualified to handle governance and security in Gaza through a temporary administrative committee linked to the Palestinian government in the West Bank, with support from Arab and international partners.

President Abbas expressed gratitude towards the nations that have recognized the State of Palestine, urging others to do the same and support Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations. He acknowledged the pivotal roles played by the conference's co-chairs, Saudi Arabia and France, alongside the United Kingdom, in garnering global recognition for Palestine.
