Palestinian Prisoner’s Society Reports Over 100 Arrests in West Bank Since Ramadan

Jerusalem: The Palestinian Prisoner's Society stated on Saturday that Israeli occupation forces have arrested more than 100 Palestinians from the West Bank since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, including women, children, and former detainees.

According to Qatar News Agency, the organization highlighted that the arrest campaign coincides with Israel's announcement of an increased pace of detentions at the beginning of Ramadan. It was noted that recent settler attacks have served as a primary cover for carrying out wide-scale arrest operations across the West Bank.

The group reported that arrests have occurred in most West Bank governorates, including Jerusalem, which typically witnesses intensified detention campaigns during Ramadan. Many of these detentions result in individuals being barred from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society reiterated that the current actions are an extension of what it described as Israel's long-standing policy aimed at targeting the Palestinian presence and imposing further measures of repression, control, and surveillance. The organization indicated that the key shift since the outbreak of what it referred to as a war of genocide has been the scale and intensity of violations, whether those accompanying arrests or those committed against detainees inside prisons and military camps.

Cities, towns, and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem experience daily raids by Israeli forces, often accompanied by clashes, arrests, and the use of live ammunition, rubber bullets, and tear gas against Palestinian youths.
