Doha: Voters in Tanzania went to polling stations on Wednesday to vote for a new president, as well as members of parliament and councillors. The Office of the Attorney General in Tanzania affirmed that the general elections fully comply with the country's constitution and laws. President Samia Suluhu Hassan is running for a new term after taking office in March 2021 following the death of her predecessor John Magufuli.
According to Qatar News Agency, the National Electoral Commission reported that more than 37 million registered voters will cast their ballots at over 20,000 polling stations inside and outside the country, under tight security measures. Preliminary results are expected within 24 hours, but the electoral commission has up to seven days to announce the final outcome.
