Doha: HE President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj praised the comprehensive development vision pursued by the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which has positioned Qatar as a trusted partner globally. He also acknowledged His Highness's contributions to supporting global peace and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE President Begaj expressed Albania's keen interest in expanding cooperation with Qatar in economic, cultural, and parliamentary fields. He emphasized that the relations between the two nations are anchored in friendship, constructive cooperation, and mutual understanding on numerous regional and international issues.
The remarks were made during HE President Begaj's visit to the Shura Council, where he met with HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. The President, who is in Qatar for the Second World Summit for Social Development, expressed his pleasure in visiting the Shura Council and lauded its critical role in supporting Qatar's development process.
HE Speaker Al Ghanim welcomed HE President Begaj, appreciating the visit as a testament to the strong ties between Qatar and Albania. He noted the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which are based on mutual respect and a shared goal to enhance bilateral relations.
HE Al Ghanim highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the Shura Council and the Albanian Parliament, suggesting that this could support both countries' sustainable development efforts and enhance understanding through parliamentary diplomacy.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen them, particularly in parliamentary cooperation and visits exchange. At the conclusion of the visit, HE President Begaj toured the Council building, including the 'Tamim bin Hamad Hall', to gain insights into the Council's sessions and functions.
HE Chairman of the Shura Council's Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie noted the focus on enhancing parliamentary relations and the exchange of expertise during the meeting. He emphasized the President's interest in understanding Qatar's legislative processes.
HE Al Subaie reaffirmed the Shura Council's commitment to deepening legislative cooperation with parliaments worldwide through parliamentary diplomacy. He also highlighted the parliamentary forum organized by the Shura Council with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which focused on the role of parliamentarians in social development and saw active participation from international parliaments, yielding significant outcomes for social development efforts.
