Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Attends GCC-US Joint Ministerial Meeting in Manama

Manama: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the joint ministerial meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies GCC foreign ministers, alongside HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Marco Rubio.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting addressed several regional developments impacting the security of GCC states and the wider region. Diplomatic efforts were a focal point, particularly in the context of enhancing security and stability following the memorandum of understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting emphasized that future arrangements should meet the needs of GCC states, safeguarding their interests and ensuring their security and stability. It was agreed that these arrangements must adhere to international law principles, respect state sovereignty, and promote good neighborliness while avoiding interference in internal affairs, thereby contributing to regional security and stability.

The participants welcomed diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, enhancing regional security and stability, and ensuring the security of maritime routes. They underscored the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, and respecting international law to promote security and prosperity for the region's peoples and the world.
