Prime Minister and UN Secretary-General Discuss Cooperation and Regional Developments

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with HE Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres during his visit to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD), hosted by Qatar from November 4 to 6. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Qatar and the UN.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also covered developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Both parties reviewed the terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and explored ways to ensure its full implementation. Additionally, they touched upon topics on the agenda of the 2nd WSSD.

HE the Secretary-General expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the conference and hoped for its success in achieving its objectives. In response, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the convening of the 2nd WSSD in Doha underscores the strategic partnership between Qatar and the UN. His Excellency reiterated Qatar's commitment to international solidarity and multilateral cooperation for social development.
