Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received phone calls today from the foreign ministers of Spain, France, Germany, and Russia. The discussions focused on the recent military escalation in the region and its implications for both regional and international security.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that the targeting of Qatari territory by Iranian ballistic missiles represents a breach of national sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good neighborliness. He highlighted Qatar's longstanding efforts to distance itself from regional conflicts and facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, the ongoing targeting raises concerns about the commitment to the bilateral relations between Qatar and Iran.
During the discussions, the Prime Minister called for an immediate cessation of any escalatory actions, a return to negotiations, and efforts to contain the crisis to ensure regional security.
The foreign ministers from Spain, France, Germany, and Russia condemned the Iranian missile attack, viewing it as a violation of Qatar's sovereignty and contrary to international law and the UN Charter.
