Public Prosecution and UN Organize Training Course Against Human Trafficking

Doha:Public Prosecution: A regional training course on combatting trafficking in persons was organized by the Public Prosecution through its Institute of Criminal Studies, aligning with international standards.

According to Qatar News Agency, the course was held in partnership with the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region. It included 10 members from the Public Prosecution and 10 members from the Public Prosecutions of the GCC states.

The training focused on the legal framework for addressing trafficking in persons, relevant international treaties, the nature and elements of such crimes, and how human trafficking differs from similar offenses. It also covered the role of the Public Prosecution in investigating, uncovering, and prosecuting these crimes and in gathering evidence.

The course aimed to enhance the capabilities of Public Prosecution members in applying both national and international standards to combat trafficking in persons. It also sought to improve their skills in crime detection, investigation, and proving the crime, while ensuring the protection of victims' and witnesses' rights.

Additionally, the course aimed to foster judicial cooperation and expertise sharing among the participating countries and to benefit from the Qatari experience in this field. It was conducted following recommendations by the Public Prosecutors of the GCC states to promote the exchange of expertise and training programs among member states' training institutes.
