Doha: Qatar Airways has announced a major expansion of its global network to encompass over 170 destinations for the 2026-2027 winter season, further solidifying its leadership in international connectivity alongside the rapid rollout of Starlink high-speed in-flight internet. Operating more than 186 weekly flights across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, the airline is strategically scaling frequencies in key international markets.
According to Qatar News Agency, in Africa, daily flights to Zanzibar will resume on October 25, while services to the Seychelles will increase to daily starting March 1, 2027, and Johannesburg frequencies will expand to 18 weekly flights on December 2, 2026. North American operations will see Montreal flights rise to daily on October 25, 2026, delivering a 40 percent boost in seating capacity.
Across Asia and Australasia, Phuket and Male will each see expansions to 21 weekly flights starting October 25. Ho Chi Minh City frequencies will grow to 11 weekly flights on November 7, with the restoration of direct Doha services alongside the existing Phnom Penh routing. Kuala Lumpur flights will increase to 18 weekly, complemented by codeshare partner Malaysia Airlines' 14 weekly services. In Australia, daily flights to Canberra via Melbourne will resume on December 9, 2026, while Melbourne frequencies double to 14 weekly.
Strategic partner Virgin Australia will simultaneously scale its Doha connections, doubling Sydney flights to 14 weekly, resuming Brisbane operations with three weekly flights, and restarting Perth services with four weekly frequencies.
European connectivity is also set to grow, led by an 11 percent capacity increase on London routes to 56 weekly flights starting October 25, supported by British Airways' daily codeshare services. Additionally, Frankfurt flights will increase to 21 weekly starting December 7, raising seating capacity by 7 percent.
In the Middle East, the national carrier is boosting regional flight frequencies by 10 percent for the winter season and resuming services to four additional destinations in Saudi Arabia: Al Qassim on October 25, Taif on October 31, Yanbu on January 2, 2027, and Tabuk on January 3, 2027. Operating twice weekly, these additions elevate Qatar Airways' total Saudi network to 12 destinations with over 155 weekly flights.
