Qatar Celebrates World Teachers’ Day, Honoring 80 Educators

Hanoi:On World Teachers' Day, Qatar demonstrated its commitment to education by honoring 80 distinguished public school teachers at a celebration attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. This event underscores the country's appreciation for teachers' contributions to the education sector and their role in shaping future generations.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatari newspapers highlighted the significance of education as a foundational element of human capital development and national progress. Al-Raya emphasized that Qatar prioritizes education within its development agenda, stressing that national advancement begins in classrooms and that empowering individuals through knowledge is crucial for sustainable growth.

The recognition of teachers by the Prime Minister reflects the importance of educators in building future generations. His remarks during the event celebrated the long-lasting impact of teachers and their outstanding contributions to education. Al-Raya pointed out that the honor serves as a message of gratitude and appreciation to teachers, who play a critical role in providing guidance, instilling values, and shaping individuals' capabilities.

Qatar's support for teachers extends beyond special occasions, incorporating comprehensive systems for talent recruitment, teacher training, and modern pedagogical environments. Al-Sharq noted the alignment of state appreciation with practical initiatives to enhance the teaching profession's appeal. HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater presented milestones from programs such as Tumooh and Tamheen, which support teacher qualification and recruitment. Additionally, 33,000 individuals have benefited from professional development programs as of 2026.

The honored teachers, some with over a quarter-century of experience, encouraged Qatari youth and graduates to view education as a national mission. Al-Sharq concluded that recognizing experienced educators and attracting new talent are complementary strategies to ensure the sustainability of educational quality in Qatar. Investing in teachers is, at its core, an investment in the nation's future generations.
