Qatar Chamber and Hungary Seek to Enhance Economic Cooperation


Doha: The Qatar Chamber (QC) hosted the Qatari-Hungarian Business Meeting on Tuesday, co-chaired by Mohamed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, QC Board Member, and Viktor Dombi, Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Region at the Foreign Economic Affairs Committee of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. HE Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, QC Board Member, was also in attendance. The discussions centered on bolstering trade and economic ties between Qatar and Hungary, with a focus on potential collaborations in sectors such as construction, building materials, and digital architecture.



According to Qatar News Agency, Mohamed Al Ahbabi highlighted the solid relations between Qatar and Hungary, particularly in economic and commercial domains. He noted that trade between the two countries reached approximately QR 375 million in 2024 and mentioned the presence of several Hungarian companies in Qatar. Al Ahbabi emphasized the potential for both countries’ private sectors to enhance cooperation through trade and investment partnerships, which would serve mutual economic interests and boost bilateral trade.



Al Ahbabi also remarked on Qatar’s attractive investment environment, citing modern legislation, world-class infrastructure, and incentives for foreign investors. He encouraged the Hungarian business community to explore the opportunities in the Qatari market, especially in sectors like industry, food security, tourism, renewable energy, and technology.



HE Eng. Ali Al Misnad expressed QC’s readiness to facilitate cooperation between Qatari and Hungarian business owners, recognizing the mutual interest in expanding relations across various sectors to enhance investments and trade volume.



Viktor Dombi noted Qatar’s status as a regional innovation and sustainability leader and commended the Qatar Chamber’s efforts in strengthening ties with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He emphasized the potential for cooperation in numerous sectors and assured the Hungarian side’s commitment to supporting collaboration opportunities and addressing challenges.



Dombi also expressed support for initiatives to foster partnerships between Qatari and Hungarian investors in areas such as agriculture, financial technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cosmetics, medical tourism, water management, and research.
