Accra:Qatar's Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan triumphed in the men's beach volleyball final, defeating Indonesia 2-1 to secure their third consecutive gold at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari pair demonstrated their prowess once again, adding to their previous victories at Jakarta-Palembang 2018 and Hangzhou 2022, and solidifying their status as one of Asia's top beach volleyball teams.
The 2026 season has been remarkable for Younousse and Tijan, who were honored as Asia's Men's Beach Volleyball Players of the Year and also won gold at the Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games. Their latest victory at the Asian Games further enhances their impressive record.
Throughout the competition, Younousse and Tijan maintained an undefeated streak in Group A, advancing through the knockout stages with decisive wins. They defeated Iran 2-0 in the quarterfinals and Thailand in the semifinals, leading to their final match against Indonesia.
This success continues to bolster Qatar's position in Asian beach volleyball and highlights the duo's ongoing achievements, which include a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Qatar's first in beach volleyball.
