Doha: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar CSR Summit 2025 kicked off Monday in Doha under the theme "Sustainability in the Digital Age".
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater emphasized the ministry's commitment to promoting social responsibility through various initiatives. These initiatives aim to empower Qatari youth, encourage community participation, and foster good citizenship.
Her Excellency highlighted the importance of social responsibility extending beyond individuals to government institutions, showcasing effective resource utilization for societal benefit. This approach, she noted, is part of the National Social Responsibility Program, with Qatar University playing a pivotal role through its initiatives that impact local and regional communities positively.
The Minister further explained that social solidarity and coexistence are crucial for building cohesive societies, a principle embraced by Qatar and its institutions. She stressed the development of educational curricula focusing on human values such as coexistence, justice, and equality, positioning education as a tool for activating social responsibility.
Dr. Omar Al Ansari, President of Qatar University, reiterated the institution's commitment to social responsibility as a core priority. He emphasized that Qatar University's hosting of the Qatar CSR National Program facilitates students' application of academic knowledge to real-world challenges, fostering community involvement and leadership skills.
Hamad Mohammed Al Nasr, Director of Trade Development and Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, underscored the ministry's dedication to encouraging sustainable business practices among companies. He emphasized that the success of companies extends beyond profitability to include their role in advancing social growth and development.
Yousef Mahmoud Al Neama, Chief Business Officer of QNB Group, highlighted the group's support for sustainability efforts and corporate social responsibility practices. His remarks underscored the importance of building a sustainable legacy and achieving CSR goals.
The conference features participation from various governmental, semi-governmental, and private-sector entities, focusing on the future of corporate social responsibility. Over the next two days, the event will host more than 75 speakers across 16 panel discussions, 14 presentations, and four workshops.
Prof. Rana Sobh, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Qatar University, noted that this year's edition explores the intersection of digital innovation and sustainability. The agenda includes discussions on ethical business practices, digital technologies' role in promoting a circular economy, and harnessing artificial intelligence for CSR enhancement.
Jack Saba, General Manager of Mubadara for Social Impact, and Haidar Mshaimesh, General Manager of IFP Qatar, commented on the growing trend of impactful CSR initiatives among Qatari companies. They highlighted the summit's role in raising public awareness, fostering partnerships, and recognizing outstanding CSR achievements.
