Qatar Engages in 131st Permanent Council Session of La Francophonie


Paris: The State of Qatar took part in the 131st Session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie, which was conducted in Paris. Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to the French Republic and its Representative to the Organization, represented Qatar at the session.



According to Qatar News Agency, in her opening remarks, Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, acknowledged Qatar’s role in mediating between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict in eastern DRC. She expressed gratitude to Qatar for its role in promoting security and peace on both regional and international fronts.



During the session, participants examined the outcomes of the 19th La Francophonie Summit, which was held in France in October 2024. They also discussed preparations for the 46th Session of the La Francophonie Ministerial Conference, scheduled for November in Kigali, Rwanda.
