Qatar Engages in Arab League Meeting on Refugee Convention

Cairo: The State of Qatar, represented by its Ministries of Justice and Interior, participated in the 12th meeting of the joint committee of experts and representatives from Arab member states to review the draft "Arab convention on the status of refugees in Arab countries." The session convened Wednesday at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two-day meeting aims to finalize discussions on the convention's articles before presenting the outcomes to the upcoming session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, scheduled for November.

Minister Plenipotentiary and Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Arab League, Dr. Maha Bakhit, stated that the convening of this meeting to study the provisions of the draft agreement comes in implementation of the decision issued by the 40th session of the Arab Justice Ministers Council, held on Nov. 28, 2024.
