Qatar Engages in Discussions at Global Coalition Meeting on Defeating ISIS

Rome:The State of Qatar took part in a meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, which was held in Rome, Italy.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar was represented by HE Khalid bin Youssef Al Sada, Ambassador to the Italian Republic and Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome.

The meeting included representatives from 32 countries, the European Union, and various international organizations. Discussions focused on identifying the financial and logistical needs for the safe detention of ISIS affiliates in Iraq and Syria, their repatriation, rehabilitation, reintegration into society, and prosecution where necessary.

Additionally, participants addressed securing coordinated support for Iraq and Syria's counterterrorism needs, which involve enhancing detention capacity, maintaining health services and facilities, and addressing the situation of displaced persons in northeastern Syria.
