Doha: The State of Qatar participated in an extraordinary session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held virtually to address the ongoing social and humanitarian crises in Palestine and Lebanon. This meeting comes in response to escalating developments and actions by the Israeli entity viewed as inhumane.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar’s representation at the meeting was led by Sheikha Shaikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family. This participation underscores Qatar’s dedication to bolstering joint Arab efforts and enhancing coordination on pressing social and humanitarian issues. Qatar continues to support Arab initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable social development and promoting solidarity among Arab nations.
The meeting was chaired by Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity of Egypt and Chair of the Executive Bureau, with various ministers and delegation heads in attendance. Discussions centered around the latest social and humanitarian situations in Palestine and Lebanon, emphasizing the urgent needs of impacted communities. Strategies to improve joint Arab coordination in supporting humanitarian and social initiatives were deliberated.
Post-meeting, the Executive Bureau announced several decisions intended to bolster support for Palestine and Lebanon. The League of Arab States General Secretariat, acting as the council’s technical secretariat, was tasked with collaborating with Egypt, the Executive Bureau’s Chair, to implement these decisions and enhance social conditions in the affected regions. The bureau also acknowledged the efforts of Arab nations in providing social and humanitarian aid, highlighting the importance of continued collaborative action to tackle current challenges.
