Qatar Expels Iranian Embassy Military and Security Attaches

Doha: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially notified the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Qatar that both the military attache and the security attache, along with their respective staff, have been declared “persona non grata” and are required to leave the country within 24 hours.

According to Qatar News Agency, this announcement was made during a meeting on Wednesday between Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, the Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ali Salehabadi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Qatar. The ministry stated that this decision is a response to repeated acts by Iran that have targeted and aggressed against Qatar, infringing upon its sovereignty and security. Such actions are considered a breach of international law, United Nations Security Council Resolution No. (2817), and the principles of good neighborliness.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Qatar will respond to ongoing hostile actions from Iran with additional measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national interests. The ministry also affirmed Qatar’s right to take all necessary actions to protect its sovereignty and security, in line with international law provisions.
