Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF) hosted a series of sessions aimed at fostering dialogue on social progress, strengthening partnerships, and promoting inclusive policymaking to ensure equitable opportunities for all. This initiative was part of its participation at the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the summit, the Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, unveiled a new partnership between QF’s Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. This collaboration is set to accelerate sustainable development in dryland ecosystems, addressing food system vulnerabilities and heat stress through traditional practices and community-driven solutions. The focus is on land restoration and regeneration, prioritizing the most vulnerable populations.
QF’s Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) played a significant role by organizing sessions that highlighted the family’s critical role in social development. One session, ‘Safeguarding Families in Wars and Conflicts: Policy and Program Interventions’, emphasized integrating family wellbeing into humanitarian and post-conflict agendas. DIFI also partnered in hosting sessions such as ‘The Circle of Care: Families Supporting the Young, the Old, and All in Need,’ and ‘Generations United: The Family at the Heart of Social Progress Towards Social Development for All’, both focusing on the importance of family-oriented policies.
Earthna participated in another key session titled ‘Empowering Young Professionals Through Education and Skill Development for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth’, organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development. This session aimed to equip young professionals with the necessary skills for achieving sustainable growth.
Throughout the summit, delegates explored QF’s mission and initiatives via a dedicated space featuring immersive virtual reality elements of Education City and personal stories from individuals inspired by QF. Additionally, QatarDebate, founded by QF, hosted an interactive session with a multigenerational panel on intergenerational equity, while Doha Debates organized a virtual discussion addressing employment challenges and opportunities for youth globally.
