Qatar Hosts Iftar Banquet and Congratulatory Cables Sent to Brunei and Japan Leaders

Doha: In a series of events marking significant international and local engagements, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani hosted an Iftar banquet at Lusail Palace. The event, held in observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan, was attended by scholars, judges, clerics, members of the Public Prosecution, and representatives from the education and higher education sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir also sent congratulatory cables to HM Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam and HM Emperor Naruhito of Japan, recognizing Brunei's National Day and the Emperor's birthday, respectively. Complementing these gestures, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani also sent their congratulations to the leaders of Brunei and Japan.

In diplomatic meetings, HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie engaged with HE Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Qatar, Neerav Patel. Meanwhile, HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad attended a series of high-profile meetings in Geneva with international counterparts, including the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Education Above All Foundation, spearheaded by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, launched its "Eid Gifts" campaign in collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent, aiming to provide joy to Palestinian and Syrian children through new Eid outfits. Additionally, Qatar achieved the sixth position globally as a hub for Islamic financial technology, as highlighted in the Global Islamic Fintech Report 2025-2026.

Qatar's Shura Council held discussions on draft legislation concerning drones and property owners' associations and reviewed reports on international parliamentary activities. Furthermore, HE Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha for a working visit.

The State of Qatar condemned the attack in Zamfara State, Nigeria, which resulted in numerous deaths and abductions. Educational updates included Qatar University's application deadline for Fall 2026 and the opening of admissions at the University of Doha for Science and Technology. The Ministry of Public Health introduced three national preventive guidelines, while the Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched 36 new electronic services.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the organization of 2026 Summer language and culture camps in France, Germany, and Japan for outstanding Qatari students. Qatar Charity initiated the Iftar for the Fasting project in Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire, providing 100,000 hot meals during Ramadan.

Qatar Tourism hosted the QT Awards Alumni Network gathering, and Doha is set to welcome the ICC Board of Directors and Committees in March 2026. A FIFA seminar for elite referees began on Monday, and Qatari players excelled in the fourth Sheikh Saud bin Ahmed Al-Thani Ramadan Bowling Championship. Finally, the fourth edition of the Pearl Beach Volleyball Championship commenced on Monday.
