Qatar-India Relations Bolstered by Amir’s State Visit


Doha: Qatari newspaper editorials on Monday highlighted the State Visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to India, focusing on its significance for bilateral relations. The discussions also touched on a phone call between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Lebanon’s Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, during which Qatar reaffirmed its support for Lebanon’s unity and territorial integrity, along with backing its developmental and economic efforts.



According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper reported that the relationship between Qatar and India has seen strategic advancements across various areas of mutual interest. The newspaper noted that high-level visits like the Amir’s contribute to strengthening cooperation, resulting in meaningful discussions and agreements between the nations. These visits also foster alignment on international issues, such as combating terrorism and promoting global security and peace.



Al-Raya emphasized that the Amir’s visit represents a pivotal moment in Qatari-Indian relations, providing momentum for cooperation. With a trade volume reaching approximately $14 billion in 2023 and 2024, India stands as Qatar’s second-largest trading partner. The newspaper pointed out that the visit continues the historical ties between the two countries, recalling the Amir’s 2015 visit to India that further solidified cooperation.



Al-Watan newspaper reported that the Amir’s visit will include meetings with India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and exchanging views on regional and international issues. The visit underscores the deep relations between Qatar and India, with both leaderships committed to developing cooperation at various levels.



Al-Watan highlighted that Qatar-India relations are marked by stability and mutual respect, with shared visions and continuous coordination forming the foundation. The visit is expected to serve as a new turning point, bolstering joint cooperation and reinforcing the partnership for the benefit of both nations and their peoples.
