Qatar Launches Aid Airlift to Venezuela After Earthquakes

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has ordered an emergency humanitarian airlift to Venezuela after two earthquakes struck the capital, Caracas, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) said on Friday. The operation includes six aircraft delivering emergency assistance to those affected by the disaster.

According to Qatar News Agency, the relief supplies include family tents, field hospitals, and shelter materials aimed at providing emergency accommodation for displaced families and meeting urgent humanitarian needs in the aftermath of the earthquakes. The aid effort is being coordinated by QFFD in cooperation with the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society.

The organization said the airlift is intended to strengthen relief and humanitarian response efforts in the affected areas, help mitigate the impact of the disaster, and support immediate shelter and recovery needs. QFFD said the operation reflects the State of Qatar's continued commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by crises and natural disasters, and to supporting international relief efforts during emergencies.
