Qatar Museums to Organize Extensive Jewelry Exhibition This October

Doha: Qatar Museums has announced the organization of the "Around the World in Jewelry" exhibition, scheduled to run from October 27 to December 26. Hosted at M7, Qatar's center for innovation and entrepreneurship in fashion and design, the exhibition is set to be the largest display of jewelry from Qatar Museums' collections. It will also feature a curated selection of heritage pieces from Van Cleef and Arpels. According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with L'ECOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, and will showcase over 500 pieces of jewelry and artifacts. These include ornaments, artworks, photographs, and sculptures from various cultures, geographical regions, and historical periods, with some items being revealed to the public for the first time. The collection reflects the diversity of the National Museum of Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the forthcoming Lusail Museum. The exhibition is structured into seven main themes, each exploring different facets of adornment a cross civilizations. The themes begin with the Sea and Ocean, focusing on materials like pearls and shells, and continue with Nature, highlighting the influence of forests, animals, plants, and minerals on human decoration. Other themes include The Cosmos, Body Ornaments, Status, Customs and Ceremonies, and Protection, each delving into unique aspects of cultural identity and universal aspirations. A series of educational programs and workshops for children will accompany the exhibition. Additionally, a bilingual Arabic-English publication, produced by L'ECOLE in collaboration with Qatar Museums, will be available to enrich the research and narrative of the exhibition. M7 Director Maha Al Sulaiti emphasized the center's mission to encourage creative exploration and enhance public appreciation for design. L'ECOLE President Lise Macdonald highlighted the exhibition's role in introducing jewelry preservation and cultural exchange to audiences in Qatar. Curators Inezita Gay-Egel and Paul Paradis noted that the showcase provides insight into the universal human nature of decorative arts. Supported by Visit Qatar and part of Qatar Creates for the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 season, the exhibition builds on the legacy of the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture, underscoring an ongoing commitment to cultural exchange and creative dialogue.
