Riyadh: Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) participated in the 14th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), held in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games. The Games are being held from November 7 to 21, with 57 countries participating.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari delegation was led by HE QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and Director of the QOC Sports Sector Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al-Thani. The meeting addressed several key issues, including the ISSA General Secretariat report for 2025 and the latest updates on Riyadh's organization of the current edition of the Games. Additionally, proposed amendments to the Association's Statutes were approved, and the audited financial statements for 2024 were endorsed.
The Assembly also focused on preparations for the 2026 Executive Board elections and ratified the results of the Athletes' Commission elections, which took place on Thursday. Another significant outcome of the meeting was the selection of Malaysia as the host for the 7th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029. This decision marks a new chapter in the ongoing development and stature of the Games.
