The State of Qatar participated in the joint meetings of subsidiary bodies of the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), currently held in Vienna until September 8.
The Qatari delegation, headed by HE President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad, spoke during the meetings about the State of Qatar hosting the 11th CoSP to the UNCAC in 2025.
Al Misnad said that this comes as the State of Qatar is keen to contribute to supporting international efforts to prevent and combat corruption and to promote the implementation of the UNCAC, especially considering Doha's capabilities and expertise in holding such events that many can vouch for.
He furthermore expressed his thanks to the countries that supported the State of Qatar's interest in hosting the 11th session since submitting the request.
Al Misnad noted the strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in many projects that successfully contribute to international efforts to achieve justice as well as crime prevention and control, especially those related to the implementation of the UNCAC.
He called on the participants in the meetings to follow up with the Arab Youth Anti-Corruption Hackathon set to be held in Doha from September 10 to 14 in partnership with the UNODC and Microsoft Qatar.
The Arab Youth Anti-Corruption Hackathon will see young programmers compete to develop creative solutions aimed at enhancing integrity and transparency.
The State of Qatar was one of the first countries in the world to host the CoSP to the UNCAC back in 2009, in which the Implementation Review Mechanism (IRM) was first adopted.
