New york: Qatari newspapers on Wednesday devoted their editorials to the State of Qatar's active participation, represented by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in the UN High-level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. His Excellency delivered a powerful and comprehensive speech reaffirming Qatar's steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers highlighted His Excellency's remarks, in which he emphasized Qatar's consistent position in advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions. He also stressed that mediation efforts are ongoing, though he warned of the critical juncture the region is facing in light of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip and the worsening humanitarian catastrophe affecting over two million people, most of them women and children.
Al-Raya underscored the urgent need for a serious international stance to emerge to protect the Palestinian people, halt the Israeli actions, and restore Palestinian rights that have been denied for nearly eight decades. In this context, the paper highlighted Qatar's active role in the UN High-level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, which was initiated by Saudi Arabia and France.
It noted that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani reaffirmed Qatar's firm position in support of the two-state solution, rejection of the blockade and forced displacement of Palestinians, and called for meaningful international action to end their suffering and achieve a just and lasting peace.
Al-Raya added that His Excellency drew the attention of the global community to the harrowing scenes of suffering and destitution in Gaza, affirming before the UN that Qatar has spared no effort in using its diplomatic channels to save innocent lives, alleviate suffering, and secure the release of prisoners and detainees.
Al-Sharq, in its editorial, emphasized that Qatar's participation in the international conference on Palestine reflects its commitment to peace and its active role in promoting a viable resolution to the conflict. The paper noted that Qatar, represented by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, took part in the conference held in New York, where His Excellency reiterated Qatar's supportive stance toward the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
The newspaper pointed out that the conference provided His Excellency an opportunity to hold numerous meetings and consultations to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, and to support international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the region, based on UN resolutions and the two-state solution. This includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al-Sharq also noted His Excellency's meetings with several international officials in New York, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, as well as his participation in the coordination meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers.
The newspaper concluded by stating that Qatar's presence at the conference is an extension of its diplomatic mediation efforts aimed at saving innocent lives, easing humanitarian suffering, and securing the release of prisoners and detainees. It also reflects Qatar's ongoing humanitarian commitment to supporting the people of Gaza, who have been affected by the blockade and ongoing conflict.
