Qatar Real Estate Market Shows Decline in Sales, Mortgages, and Rentals

Doha:The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat) has reported a decline in key real estate market indicators in Qatar for the 40th week of 2026.

According to Qatar News Agency, the total value of real estate sale contracts during the period from September 27 to October 3, 2026, reached QAR 482.4 million. This represents a decrease of 30.9 percent compared to the previous week and a 20 percent drop compared to the same period last year. A total of 118 contracts were executed, marking a 15.1 percent decline week over week and a 21.9 percent decline year over year.

The sales during this week were categorized by property type, with villas contributing QAR 224.7 million or 46.5 percent of the total sales value. Vacant land followed with QAR 197.7 million, accounting for 40.9 percent, buildings at QAR 29.8 million or 6.1 percent, and other property types at QAR 30.2 million or 6.2 percent. The Al Rayyan Municipality led in real estate transactions with QAR 130.9 million, followed by Doha Municipality with QAR 116.7 million, and Al Wakra Municipality with QAR 99.7 million.

In terms of mortgage activity, the number of mortgage contracts reached 27, with a total value of QAR 1.04 billion. This marks a 53.8 percent decline compared to the previous week but a significant 198.4 percent increase year over year. Vacant land represented the largest share of mortgage values at QAR 827 million or 82.3 percent, followed by towers at QAR 130 million or 12.9 percent, and buildings at QAR 47 million or 4.6 percent. Doha Municipality ranked first in mortgage value at QAR 923 million, followed by Al Daayen Municipality with QAR 63 million, and Al Rayyan Municipality with QAR 26 million.

Rental indicators also showed a downturn, with 518 rental contracts valued at QAR 4.49 million, reflecting a 58.6 percent decrease in value week over week and a 91.5 percent decrease year over year. The number of contracts fell 56.6 percent week over week and 89 percent year over year. Villas accounted for the largest share of rental values at QAR 2.29 million or 51.6 percent, followed by apartments with QAR 1.23 million or 27.7 percent, commercial showrooms at QAR 0.66 million or 14.9 percent, and other property types at QAR 0.31 million or 5.9 percent. Al Rayyan Municipality led in rental value at QAR 2.0 million, with Doha Municipality in second at QAR 1.4 million, and Al Wakra Municipality at QAR 0.4 million.
