Qatar-Rwanda Relations Strengthened by HH the Amir’s Visit

Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday dedicated extensive coverage to the official visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Republic of Rwanda, emphasizing that the visit marks a new milestone in bilateral relations, which have expanded across political, economic, and developmental spheres in recent years.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials highlighted the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries and underscored Qatar's active role in supporting stability in Africa, notably through its successful mediation between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, culminating in the signing of the Doha Peace Agreement.

The editorials further noted Rwanda's emergence as a pivotal partner for Qatar, as Doha continues to deepen its engagement with the African continent through diplomacy, investment, and development cooperation. In its editorial titled "Qatar and Rwanda: A Strategic Partnership," Al-Raya affirmed that Qatar has become a strategic partner of Rwanda, pointing out that relations between the two nations have reached advanced levels of coordination and integration since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2017.

The paper highlighted the regular, high-level exchanges between the two leaderships, stressing that HH the Amir's visit aims to reinforce close relations and advance a shared vision of expanding sustainable investments. Al-Raya emphasized that the reciprocal visits between Doha and Kigali have been instrumental in driving forward joint cooperation. It described Qatar's mediation between Rwanda and the DRC, culminating in the Doha Agreement's announcement on March 18 and its final signing on November 15, as a significant achievement in the relationship between the two nations.

The editorial added that Rwanda has become a pivotal partner in Qatar's outreach to Africa, with bilateral ties expanding across various sectors, including the economy, investment, education, tourism, aviation, security, and anti-corruption initiatives.
