Doha: Qatar has announced a robust 243-athlete delegation for the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026, marking a significant step in the country's sports development journey. Iman Al Emadi, deputy head of the administrative delegation, expressed optimism about the Qatari contingent's performance, emphasizing the comprehensive preparations made to ensure optimal conditions for their athletes.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Emadi highlighted the critical role of women's participation in the delegation, aiming for a strong contribution from female athletes in the quest for medals. The preparations involved coordination with all Qatari sports federations to finalize logistical arrangements, ensuring athletes are well-supported throughout the competitions.
Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri, head of the Qatari delegation's media committee, underscored the importance of Qatar's participation as a precursor to hosting the Asian Games in Doha in 2030. The Aichi-Nagoya Games offer a platform to enhance Qatar's sporting presence and provide athletes with the opportunity to compete against top Asian talent.
Al Marri also announced the establishment of "Bayt Qatar," a Qatari hospitality house set to operate from September 19 to October 4. This initiative aims to introduce Qatari culture to international audiences and celebrate the achievements of Qatari athletes during the Games.
Naji Al Omari, another member of the administrative delegation, reaffirmed the Games as a milestone for Qatari sports. He detailed the extensive logistical preparations undertaken to ensure that athletes can focus solely on their performances, aiming for excellence in their respective disciplines.
