Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange experienced a downturn on Monday, as its benchmark index fell by 116.10 points, equating to a 1.1% decrease, closing at 10,438.86 points.
According to Qatar News Agency, the trading session witnessed a total of 171.4 million shares exchanged, with a total transaction value reaching QAR 583.1 million ($160.1 million). These transactions were spread across 66,297 trades encompassing all market sectors.
Market sentiment was influenced by a general negative trend, with 30 listed companies seeing their share prices decline. In contrast, 18 stocks managed to record gains, while six companies' stock prices remained unchanged from their previous levels.
The total market capitalization of the exchange fell to QAR 626.9 billion by the end of the trading day, a decrease from QAR 631.5 billion in the prior session. This change indicates a drop of approximately QAR 4.6 billion in market value.
