Doha: The Qatar Table Tennis Association participated in the second meeting of the West Asia Table Tennis Federation's Board of Directors, where discussions centered around preparations for upcoming regional competitions. The meeting concluded with the decision to host the next West Asia Table Tennis Club Championship in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, scheduled for December 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting, conducted via videoconference, also included a review of the 2026 West Asia Table Tennis Championships held in Amman, Jordan, from August 12 to 19. This tournament saw participation from 10 countries, featuring 241 players in team events, 152 in singles, and 75 pairs in doubles competitions. During the meeting, a new format for team competitions was introduced as well.
Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, Secretary-General of the Qatar and West Asia Table Tennis Federations, emphasized the importance of early preparations for the championship. He highlighted the need to complete organizational arrangements and send official invitations to member associations to ensure broad participation. Al Mohannadi stressed that these efforts are crucial for delivering a tournament that accurately reflects the prominence of table tennis in the region.
Al Mohannadi also commended Qatar's substantial representation within the West Asia Table Tennis Federation. He noted that this representation is a testament to Qatari expertise in regional and continental sports administration. He further remarked that such a role entails a significant responsibility to contribute effectively to the development of championships, programs, and projects that aim to advance the future of table tennis in the region.
