Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, will host the GCC Youth Debate Training Program next Sunday. Featuring a select group of youth from the GCC, the five-day program aims to develop participants’ skills in the art of debate and encourage them to use critical thinking and logical analysis to enhance constructive dialogue and persuasion skills.
According to Qatar News Agency, the program’s agenda includes a series of training workshops, starting next Monday with the “Introduction to the Art of Debate” workshop. The workshops will discuss the art of debate, its importance, the rules and ethics of debate, and building a debate team’s position. A training workshop will also be held on position building and argument-building exercises.
On Tuesday, a workshop titled “Argumentation Skills” will be held, discussing critical thinking, constructing arguments, and formulating evidence, followed by implementation and practical application. On Wednesday, a workshop titled “Team Building and Strategies: Role Distribution, Cooperation, and Winning Strategies” will be held, along with an interactive session and practical exercises on arbitration, discussing how to determine the winning team, and discussing the debate from the arbitrator’s perspective.
The GCC Youth Debate Training Program concludes with a workshop titled “Practical Application: The Gulf Mini-League,” followed by the final debate and honoring of the participating delegations.
