Doha: The Qatari Forum for Authors, under the Ministry of Culture’s umbrella, held the Qatari-Chinese Copyright Seminar on Tuesday. This event saw the participation of 24 Qatari publishing houses alongside four prominent Chinese publishing houses including the China International Book Trading Corporation, Peking University Press, Zhejiang University Press, and China Architecture Publishing and Media Corporation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the seminar provided a platform for participants to share experiences related to publishing and intellectual property rights. Discussions revolved around the challenges and opportunities in the printing and publishing sector amidst rapid digital transformations. Both Qatari and Chinese publishing houses shared practical examples of their successful endeavors in these fields.
The seminar sessions featured contributions from Peking University Press and Zhejiang University, which focused on strategies for enhancing academic and cultural cooperation with Qatar and other Arab countries. The discussions emphasized the development of a robust framework to address challenges in cultural adaptation for cross-border content licensing and explored the latest copyright trends in the digital era, such as e-books, audiobooks, and digital content trends in Arab markets.
The event concluded with a comprehensive discussion on the most effective ways to activate joint cooperation between Qatar and China in the copyright domain and export needs. It also showcased successful examples of cooperation between China and Arab countries, underscoring the significance of global experiences from international partnerships in this sector.
