Commending the medical and health renaissance in the State of Qatar, Al-Raya highlighted the international accreditation achieved by the residency training program at Hamad Medical Corporation's Department of Dermatology and Venereology by the international arm of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
In its editorial titled "New Qatari Medical Achievement", Al-Raya underlined that Qatar is experiencing a medical and health renaissance, thanks to significant advancements made in its medical sector. The country's medical industry has been able to professionally adapt to the demands of the modern era, and Qatar has achieved top international rankings in sustainable healthcare quality indicators and has focused on enhancing and providing healthcare for all its citizens. This has been achieved through integrating health considerations and impacts into all decision-making processes and policies.
In 2012, Hamad Medical Corporation, the first healthcare system in the region, obtained institutional accreditation from the American Council for Graduate Medical Education International, making Qatar the second country in the world to receive this accreditation outside the United States, Al-Raya noted.
In past few years, the health sector has made huge strides in developing treatment facilities and expanding health services. As a result, Qatar has joined the list of developed countries in providing integrated health care, the newspaper added.
The Qatari health sector ranked first in the Arab region, as the performance of the health system in the State is developing today at an accelerated pace. The progress of the health sector in the State of Qatar is indicated in many global health indicators which ranked the Qatari health sector in advanced positions, and through the diversity in the large medical institutions that are now competing with prestigious international counterparts in the therapeutic and health fields, Al-Raya concluded.
For its part, English newspaper The Peninsula said in its editorial titled "Health Care at Home" that the decision by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to regulate the practice of home nursing services is a welcome move as more and more people are seen using these services in recent times, especially among the elderly.
Qatar has always adopted very high standards in healthcare and all the medical institutions in the country are testimony to the high benchmark the country sets for itself in healthcare and wellbeing. The medical centers in the country are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and have the most advanced medical technologies, the newspaper added.
According to MoPH, the health sector in Qatar has recently witnessed an increase in the demand for home nursing services because of the increase in the average age of the countrys population in addition to the focus on wellness indicators in the Qatari society and the introduction of new concepts such as long-term care and home care.
These facilities are of utmost importance especially in the case of elderly patients as they dont need to travel out of their home for care and having a professional at home enhances the medical attention patient receives. Another important factor is that this will also provide psychological support to the patient as interaction with a trained health practitioner will bring positivity and hope to the daily routine, The Peninsula noted.
