Qatari Newspapers Condemn Israeli Actions Amid International Silence

Doha: In their editorials today, Qatari newspapers shed light on the horrific crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people amid international silence that prompts serious questions about the credibility and principles of the international system.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers emphasized that for the past 18 months, Israel has continued to assassinate the innocence of Gaza's children by depriving them of their most basic rights as a result of the genocide being carried out by occupation forces, despite international warnings about the dangers of these actions, which have led to the deaths of dozens, including children.

The papers also condemned Israel's attacks on Syria, which recently resulted in the killing of nine civilians and the injury of 23 others during airstrikes on the southern province of Daraa, which they said was another flagrant violation of international law and blatant infringement on Syrian sovereignty.

Al Sharq newspaper wrote that in light of the ongoing horrific crimes committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people, international silence continues in a manner that raises concern and questions the credibility of the global system and its principles. The paper noted that a video published by an American newspaper documents the execution of 15 paramedics and relief workers in Rafah, serving as clear evidence that the targeting of humanitarian teams was not random, as the occupation claims, but a fully formed crime carried out with intent and deliberation.

The paper explained that despite the gravity of these violations, which amount to war crimes, the world continues to stand by silently, without activating accountability mechanisms or deterring the aggressors. This, it argued, is a stark failure to uphold international law and reveals a double standard in the treatment of human rights, which only encourages the occupation to persist in its repressive policies unchecked.

The editorial concluded with a call to launch an independent international investigation into the crime of executing medical and civil defense teams, dispatch fact-finding missions to the targeted sites, and visit the mass graves where Israel has concealed harrowing chapters of systematic genocide.

Meanwhile, Al-Raya newspaper wrote that on Palestinian Children's Day, which falls on Apr. 5, Israel continues to destroy the innocence of Gaza's children by denying them their most basic rights amid a genocide perpetrated by occupation forces. This has led to horrific humanitarian tragedies including killing, displacement, orphaning, starvation, and imprisonment.

The paper stressed that Gaza's children live amid the sounds of explosions and scenes of death and destruction, as orphans, displaced persons, and the hungry, without access to medical, social, or psychological care. During the months of genocide, Israel has killed around 17,954 children in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in a statement on the eve of Palestinian Children's Day. Meanwhile, UNICEF stated on Apr. 1 that 322 children have been killed and 609 injured since Israel resumed its genocide campaign and broke the ceasefire on March 18.

The editorial concluded by saying that, despite international warnings over the severity of these measures that have resulted in the deaths of dozens, Israel continues to pursue this policy and use it as a weapon against the Palestinian people.
