Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials Monday several issues, including the State of Qatar's steadfast support for Lebanon and its continued solidarity with the Lebanese people, contributing to efforts aimed at promoting stability and development in Lebanon and the wider region.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper reported that whenever positive reports emerge about the possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, in response to the significant diplomatic efforts being undertaken by regional countries, Israel escalates its actions in Lebanon and Gaza. The paper noted that these actions intend to divert attention from progress in the Iranian discussions, keeping the region in a state of conflict, as Israel benefits from instability and seeks to expand its control.
The newspaper added that Israel had launched a series of airstrikes against Lebanon in a new act of aggression, aiming to prolong the conflict. It pointed out that Israel continues its actions in both Lebanon and Gaza despite ceasefire agreements and has not complied with their provisions. In Lebanon, the paper stated, Israel exploits security circumstances as a pretext for territorial expansion and intimidation.
The paper reported Qatar's condemnation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, including ground incursions into southern Lebanon and targeting civilians. These actions were described as violations of Lebanese sovereignty and international law, posing threats to regional security. The condemnation was voiced during a phone call between HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and HE Dr. Tarek Mitri, Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon.
The paper emphasized Qatar's consistent support for Lebanon, calling for an immediate end to Israeli attacks, adherence to the ceasefire agreement, and implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The newspaper also mentioned the phone conversation between HE Al Khulaifi and HE Mitri, reaffirming Qatar's support for Lebanon. HE Al Khulaifi condemned the Israeli attacks and stressed the need for adherence to the ceasefire agreement and implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 1701.
