Doha: Qatari newspapers focused their editorials today on a range of local and regional issues, most notably Qatar's efforts to invest in national talent, particularly in preparing students for the job market, thereby aligning educational outcomes with development needs. The editorials also underscored the positions expressed by the State of Qatar and several other Arab and Islamic countries regarding the developments in the Gaza Strip that called for an end to Israeli violations, the protection of civilians, and adherence to international law and international humanitarian law.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial titled "Preparing our youth for the job market," Al Raya affirmed Qatar's continued efforts to prepare students for professional life, based on a vision that building national competencies begins before graduation by introducing students to diverse work environments, developing their skills, and helping them choose their academic and professional paths on clear foundations. The newspaper noted that the conclusion of the eighth edition of the "My Career - My Future" job-shadowing program reflects this direction. Organized by the Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation, in partnership with several government entities, the program offered more than 350 high school students professional internship opportunities at 33 host organizations across key sectors, allowing students to explore real workplace settings, gain practical experience, and develop a clearer understanding of future career opportunities.
It further noted the participation of students with disabilities and students from Assalam schools, reflecting the program's commitment to expanding career guidance opportunities and promoting inclusive participation. The newspaper emphasized that professional internships have become a key tool in preparing young people to make more informed academic and career decisions. Al Raya concluded its editorial by emphasizing that investing in the development of the nation's youth is an investment in the country's future, noting that sustainable development requires a national workforce possessing the knowledge, experience, and productivity necessary for the workforce. The newspaper added that expanding vocational education and career guidance programs reflects a trend toward aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs, thereby contributing to job localization efforts and strengthening partnerships between educational institutions, government agencies, and employers.
On regional affairs, Al Sharq's editorial titled "Arab and Islamic warning against undermining the Gaza agreement" stated that the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, and Pakistan regarding ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip reflects growing Arab and Islamic concern over the continuation of these violations which constitute a clear breach of Israel's obligations under international law and the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, and undermine international and regional efforts to implement the second phase of this plan. It added that the joint statement condemned in the strongest terms these violations, particularly the targeting of health facilities and infrastructure, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and the continued civilian casualties, including women and children. These actions constitute a grave violation of international law, including international humanitarian law, and threaten t o derail the political process, reignite the cycle of escalation, and deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
The daily pointed out that the statement also addressed settler attacks in the occupied West Bank, settlement expansion, and unilateral measures in occupied Jerusalem. It asserted that these practices aim to impose a fait accompli by force, undermine the foundations of the two-state solution, and marginalize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions. Al Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the international community is required to bear its legal and moral responsibilities by forcing Israel to fulfill its obligations under international law and Security Council Resolution 2803, and to hold those responsible for the grave violations accountable, in a way that contributes to protecting civilians and preserving the opportunities to complete the implementation of the agreement and achieve a permanent ceasefire.
