Qatari Newspapers Highlight Nation’s Role in UN’s 80th Anniversary and Regional Developments

Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday spotlighted key discussions on national, regional, and international issues, focusing on the Media Committee meeting of the Qatar-Saudi Coordination Council, Qatar’s celebration of the UN’s 80th anniversary and UN Day, and developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq highlighted Qatar’s significant role as a supporter and partner of the United Nations, with its assistance extending to over 40 UN bodies and agencies. The editorial stressed the importance of the UN House opening in Doha in 2023, a facility that hosts several UN offices, thereby bolstering Qatar’s status as a regional hub for multilateral engagement. This commitment aligns with Qatar’s role as a responsible member of the international community, adhering to the UN Charter’s principles and values of solidarity, partnership, and mutual respect to pursue a better future for humanity. Qatar collaborates with UN agencies to tackle evolving global challenges, reinforcing the organization’s essential role.

Al-Arab, for its part, emphasized that Qatar’s celebration of the UN’s 80th anniversary is indicative of its active participation in UN activities this year. Qatar’s participation in the UN General Assembly meeting in September, marking the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter, reaffirmed its dedication to international law and dialogue as a method of conflict resolution. Furthermore, the Second Global Summit on Social Development, which Qatar will host in November, aims to gather world leaders to discuss poverty, education, and equality, further establishing Qatar’s position as a bridge between East and West. The editorial underscored that Qatar’s commemoration of this milestone highlights its commitment to peace and justice while reaffirming its leading role on the international stage.
