Qatari Newspapers Highlight Support for Syrian Unity at Saudi-Hosted Ministerial Meeting


Doha: Qatari newspapers have underscored the participation of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in an expanded ministerial meeting on Syria held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting included foreign ministers from Arab and western countries, as well as representatives from various regional and international organizations.



According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers reiterated Qatar’s steadfast support for the unity of the Syrian people during this critical time of rebuilding and maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity. They also commended the collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development in launching Warif Academy. This institution is the first of its kind in Qatar and aims to empower students with disabilities by providing educational opportunities aligned with global standards.



Al-Sharq daily expressed that Qatar has consistently supported the Syrian people through political, humanitarian, and economic assistance during Syria’s recent challenges. This support is rooted in Qatar’s ethical and humanitarian obligations and the strong ties between the two nations. The editorial highlighted Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, including the continuous airlift of aid by the Qatari Armed Forces, technical support for Damascus International Airport, and collaboration with international partners to lift sanctions on Syria.



The participation of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Saudi-hosted ministerial meeting was further emphasized, highlighting Qatar’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people during this rebuilding phase.



Al-Watan newspaper noted that on Dec. 8, Syrians began a new chapter with renewed hope for a future aligned with their aspirations while acknowledging past challenges. The editorial praised the Arab and international meeting on Syria in Riyadh, which reinforced Qatar’s support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and independence. It highlighted Qatar’s ongoing humanitarian aid and participation in meetings aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people.



In conclusion, Al-Watan emphasized that such meetings are pivotal in improving the living conditions of the Syrian people, offering essential relief and development assistance, and facilitating the return of displaced persons to their homes.
